Sorry for the lack of information the past 2 weeks. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to email!
I will be conducting the individual assessments on each child over the coming weeks. I have waited to give students a chance to settle in to the routine of school and get to know us. I will assess in October, February, and May. These assessments will help us with teaching moving forward.
Our Fall Fiesta is coming up! It will be on October 31st. This party will be from 9:45-11:15. The students will be allowed to change into costume for the costume parade, and then will return to the classroom for the party. We are looking for parents to help out. If you can help that day, or if you want to plan the party, please let me know!

September 4-7
WOW! September is here. And I believe we are all hoping for a little cooler weather. It has been a hot one!!
Just a note of reminder about air quality. We do have a few small fires burning in the vicinity, so we are on the watch for the air quality. If the air quality reaches levels that are considered "unsafe for sensitive groups", we keep the preschool inside. If you have any questions, please ask me at any time!
Here is what we are up to this week. Our themes are changing with the month, and we are going to have fun!

Welcome!
Welcome to our preschool classroom and blog! We are so excited to get to know our new students and families and to continue to work with our current students and families. We have a very fun year planned for our classroom, and we are very ready to get started.
Each week, this blog will be updated with information for the next week. A newsletter will also be sent home. This will have all the information you need for the upcoming week. If you subscribe to this blog and the main preschool blog, you will be kept up to date on the happenings in our classroom.
When you first come in each day, you will help your child get settled. We like to work to get each student as independent as possible in these routines, but we know in the beginning you will be helping. When you come in, their lunchbox will go in the lunch basket, and their water bottle in the water bottle basket. They will then wash their hands and trace their name. There will be a sign in sheet for you to sign your child in and out of class each day as well.
The first few days can typically be difficult as we all make a new transition. The teachers will be there to help you in any way. Good byes can be tough the first few days. It might be easiest to start a routine that you and your child can do each morning to say good bye for now. We will call you if your child needs you throughout the day.
Your child's teacher will be Mrs. S (Schlagenhauf). The teacher's assistant is Miss T (Thompson). Other teachers that will be in the room include Mrs. Ferrara, Mrs Sykes, and Miss Rees.
Welcome to a fun year at preschool! We can't wait to get started!!!

Water Days are Coming!
As the weather continues to get warmer, we are anticipating some fun water days. We have a water table, some water balls and toys, and some spray bottles for our preschoolers to play with.
Usually, the children do not get wet enough to need a change of clothing, but now would be a great time to update your child’s cubby, to make sure the clothes are weather-appropriate and the right size! Each child should have a full change of clothes, including underwear and socks. It’s not a bad idea to leave a hat and/or sunglasses.
Also, please remember to apply sunscreen each day before dropping your child off. If you forget, we have a bottle here in the classroom that you may apply to your child.
Finally, don’t forget a water bottle! We remind the children to drink lots of water to stay hydrated. Thanks!

As our weather changes hourly right now in Colorado, please send your child to school prepared. Light jacket, hat, sunscreen, or anything else that will help them to feel more comfortable outside. Also, please remember to have good shoes on your child. Shoes that come off easily, or have open toes or heels, tend to cause more falls on our playground.

Week of January 9-13
This week we are looking forward to things getting back to normal. We were low on numbers last week, and we missed all our preschoolers who were on vacation or with their families. We can't wait to see you again!
Our curriculum this week continues to be frosty! We will be learning all about the Inuit people and their culture. We're especially looking forward to building sugar cube igloos, and to bundling up as we pretend to be eskimos right here in our classroom. Our other curriculum is as follows:
Social Studies: The Inuit people
Please remember to dress your child appropriately for outdoor recess. Although we are anticipating a mostly warm week, it's good to be prepared just in case it gets chilly!
